2012 is literally around the corner. In a few days, we will begin a new year with new demands and expectations. As a business leader, now is the perfect time to reflect on what strategies worked for your organization in 2011 and how you can improve or build upon these strategies in 2012. It is also the time to consider what strategies need to be discarded. This time of the year is the appropriate to hold a year-end meeting with your direct reports to find out what has worked for them and what hasn’t. As a team, you can start preparing for the year ahead.

Planning Your Meeting

As you begin planning your meeting, AgreeDo is the perfect tool to create your agenda. You can consider assigning certain sections of the agenda to your staff to give them the opportunity to report on their areas of responsibility. Our software allows for multiple collaborators to work in the same place without having to send out multiple emails.

Setting Goals

A year end meeting is a great opportunity to set company, department and individual goals for 2012. As you set your goals, you need to assign responsibilities and also include a timeline of completion. AgreeDo allows you to track your meeting minutes as you run the meeting, making it easier to keep track of assignments and decisions made in your meeting.

Tying Up Loose Ends

You should also utilize your year-end meeting as a chance to tie up looses in your company or department. It is the time to make sure that all outstanding tasks for 2011 are completed and if they cannot be completed before the end of the year, you’ll need to create a road map of how and when these tasks will be completed.
Finally, take the time to show appreciation to your team for their hard work. You can do this in a group setting but you should also set time aside to speak to each team member individually if possible.
Here is to a great 2012!
